Most hosts in New Haven welcome people who have never done it before, and many say so in the listing. Most rooms hold a mix of first timers and people who come back every week. If you are new, look for a session described as beginner friendly, all levels, or an introduction. If you are pregnant or have a health condition, talk to your own healthcare provider first and tell the host before the session starts.

Most sessions run 60 to 90 minutes, lying on a mat while the facilitator guides the pace of the breath. It is common for emotions to come up along the way, and many people describe feeling calm and clear afterwards. Nobody will put you on the spot and you can stop at any point, so arrive a few minutes early rather than rushing in.
