Why We Brought Holistic Healing to Prescott
Prescott sits at 5,367 feet, surrounded by 1.25 million acres of Prescott National Forest. The American Lung Association has recognized it for some of the cleanest air in Arizona. When the whole class is focused on breathing, the air in the room matters.
The wellness community here is mostly locals who show up week after week. Sixteen strangers came out on a Wednesday night to lie on the floor and breathe together.
The Space: Earth and Herbs Arizona
Earth and Herbs Arizona is a yoga and healing arts studio in downtown Prescott, owned by Angela Garrotto. Warm lighting, hardwood floors, colorful tapestries, and shelves of herbs and teas.
Angie hosts yoga, Qi Gong, weekly sound baths, Reiki shares, community tea times, and infrared sauna sessions. She welcomes guest practitioners. That is how we met.
What Happened in the Room
We led a 45-minute surrender-based Breathwork activation, then Reiki and a sound bath with crystal singing bowls. Everyone lay on yoga mats with eye masks while Shelby and I moved through the room offering hands-on (or hands-off) Reiki and sound.
The breath is gentle, with no ice baths or hyperventilation. It's a relaxed, open-mouth breath that calms the nervous system and lets the body release what it's holding.
A few people cried. Others fell into the deepest rest they'd had in months.

What to Expect at a Prescott Class
- You lie down the whole time. It's not a workout. You get a yoga mat, bolster, blanket, and eye mask.
- Everyone feels it differently. Tingling, warmth, emotional release, deep calm, or mental clarity.
- About 90 minutes total, including intention setting before and integration after.
Prescott's Wellness and Healing Arts Scene Is Growing
Summers stay mild up here (no 115-degree Phoenix days), with ponderosa pines everywhere. Beyond Earth and Herbs, Prescott has yoga studios, naturopathic centers, meditation groups, and a monthly Healing Arts Fair with Reiki masters, shamans, massage therapists, and energy healers from across northern Arizona.
What it didn't have was a dedicated Breathwork class.

No. Most of the 16 people at our first Prescott class were trying all three for the first time. You go at your own pace.

What is a sound bath?
You lie still while crystal singing bowls, gongs, or chimes play. The vibrations promote deep relaxation and nervous system regulation. In our classes it comes last.
