Every path leads to the same place: the surrender-based method, a real facilitator credential, and the confidence to hold Breathwork for real people. You learn safe, trauma-informed facilitation and the business side of filling your first rooms.
Whichever format you choose, you train directly with Ryan and Shelby in a small cohort, and you keep the graduate community and mentorship long after your final day.
We built the online cohort for people who can't travel, or who simply want to start online. Whatever your reason, it gets you there. That said, if you can make an in-person intensive work, we always encourage it. Breathing in a room with your cohort is something a screen can't fully recreate.
Liquid Breathwork is an Arizona-based Breathwork practice offering classes, private and corporate sessions, and facilitator certification, founded by Ryan McBurney and Shelby Von Oepen. Salt Lake City is where we run Breathwork certification in Utah: one training, placed where the whole Mountain West can reach it.
One airport serves the whole valley, and the Wasatch Front folds in around it: Ogden to the north, Provo and Orem in Utah Valley, Lehi and Draper on the Silicon Slopes, Park City over the hill on the Wasatch Back. If you live in Sugar House, 9th and 9th or the Avenues, you sleep in your own bed all weekend.
The shape is three days, Friday to Sunday. Arrive at 8:45, we start at 9, and you finish around 5pm. By Sunday afternoon you have guided real people, been guided yourself, and had Ryan and Shelby watch you do it.
Salt Lake City International sits about 4 miles west of downtown and is a Delta hub. If you are flying in for Breathwork in Salt Lake City, Phoenix is about a 1 hour 40 minute flight. Reno, the airport for our Lake Tahoe training, is about an hour and a half, and Seattle is about 2 hours 20 minutes.
Land, walk out to the Airport station on the east side of the terminal, and the TRAX Green Line takes you into downtown.
Coming up from Provo or down from Ogden? FrontRunner links them Monday to Saturday. No Sunday service, and day three is a Sunday, so drive that morning or stay in the city for the weekend.
Low 60s by afternoon, low 40s at dawn, and a snow shower is still possible. Pack layers: something warm for the walk in, something light for the room. Spring skiing in the Cottonwoods often runs into late April, so bring the boots if you are making a trip of it.
Three notes, one for each direction people arrive from.
Ogden, Provo, Orem, Lehi, Draper and Park City all count as home for this training. Nobody in Northern Utah, Utah Valley or the Silicon Slopes needs a flight or a hotel, though a room in the city for the weekend makes the early starts easier. Ogden and Provo sit at the two ends of the FrontRunner line, so the Sunday drive noted above applies to both. FrontRunner does not reach Park City, so if you are coming over the Wasatch Back you drive all three days.
Boise, Idaho is closer to Salt Lake City than to any other training we run. The nonstop from Boise is about 1 hour 15 minutes, or you drive down. St. George sits at the far end of the state and comes up I-15. Las Vegas is further down the same interstate, and Southwest flies LAS to Salt Lake City nonstop in about an hour and a half. The Las Vegas page sets this training against the Phoenix-area dates. Come up the day before; the Friday start is 9am.
The nonstop from Denver to Salt Lake City is about 90 minutes on Delta, Frontier, Southwest or United. For Coloradans the two closest trainings in 2027 are this one and Scottsdale, and we compared them on the Breathwork certification near Denver page.

The method is surrender-based. You learn to guide a breather down into relaxation instead of pushing them toward a peak, and intermittent breath holds are part of how that works. The full curriculum is on the certification page: 63 lessons across 5 modules.
You guide in the room, on people who tell you what landed and what did not. Ryan and Shelby watch and give notes while it is fresh.
Trauma-informed pacing runs through all three days of the facilitator training: consent, boundaries, reading the room, and safety. Then the business side: pricing, your first class, and how to fill it. Mentorship from Ryan and Shelby continues after the weekend, along with the graduate community.
