What You Walk Away With

Every path leads to the same place: the surrender-based method, a real facilitator credential, and the confidence to hold Breathwork for real people. You learn safe, trauma-informed facilitation and the business side of filling your first rooms.

Whichever format you choose, you train directly with Ryan and Shelby in a small cohort, and you keep the graduate community and mentorship long after your final day.

We built the online cohort for people who can't travel, or who simply want to start online. Whatever your reason, it gets you there. That said, if you can make an in-person intensive work, we always encourage it. Breathing in a room with your cohort is something a screen can't fully recreate.

Why We Chose D.C.

More people in the DMV search for Breathwork facilitator training than in any other East Coast metro we measured, and the same goes for teacher training. So this training is in Washington, D.C.: a Breathwork certification for the whole DMV.

It fits people who carry stress for a living: federal and policy work, military and veterans, therapists and clinicians who give all day. You learn to bring your own nervous system down after work, then hold that space for other people.

Call it Breathwork facilitator training in D.C. or Breathwork teacher training in D.C.: it is the same three days, Friday to Sunday. Arrive at 8:45, we start at 9 and finish around 5. The full format is on the certification hub.

Getting to D.C.

Three airports, each with a train into the city.

  • DCA (Reagan National) has its own Metro station on the Blue and Yellow lines, joined to Terminal 2 by a covered bridge.
  • IAD (Dulles) is on the Silver Line, about 50 minutes into the city.
  • BWI has a rail station with MARC and Amtrak trains to Union Station, plus a free terminal shuttle around the clock.

By train, Amtrak drops you at Union Station. From New York, the fastest Acela does it in under three hours.

D.C. in May

Highs in the mid 70s, lows near 60, roughly a dozen wet days, humid by the end of the month. Pack a light layer for mornings and something for rain.

The cherry blossoms are long gone, but the National Arboretum's azaleas peak around the end of April and often carry into early May. On a free evening, locals head for Rock Creek Park or the C&O Canal towpath out of Georgetown.

Coming from across the Mid-Atlantic

Baltimore, MoCo and the Maryland side

Baltimore is the easy one. The MARC Penn Line runs from Baltimore Penn Station to Union Station in about an hour and stops at BWI Rail Station on the way. Bethesda, Silver Spring and the rest of MoCo are already inside the DMV, so treat this as your home training. If you have been searching for a Breathwork certification in Maryland, this is the closest in-person training we run. Philadelphia sits between D.C. and New York, and the Philadelphia page lays out both.

Virginia: NoVA, Richmond and Hampton Roads

Arlington, Alexandria and Reston are on Metro (Silver, Orange, Blue and Yellow lines), so NoVA can treat this like a local weekend. Richmond and Norfolk both sit on Amtrak's Northeast Regional, which runs straight into Union Station, so Hampton Roads and the Richmond area can read on the way up instead of driving. Farther south, the Triangle and Charlotte are weighing D.C. against Atlanta. The Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte pages compare the two.

West of the mountains: Pittsburgh and Cleveland

American flies nonstop from Pittsburgh into DCA, and Cleveland has nonstop service into DCA on American too. Both land at the airport with its own Metro station. Ohio readers have a second option in Milwaukee. If you want every training on this side of the country on one screen, the East Coast page lines up Atlanta, D.C. and New York.

What You Learn in D.C.

You guide real breathers in the room while Ryan and Shelby give you feedback on your cueing, your pacing and how you hold the space.

The method is surrender based and trauma informed. The breather sets the pace, and you learn the safety side: contraindications, consent around touch, what to do when a session gets big.

Then the business side: pricing, your offer, filling your first rooms in the DMV. The full list is on the curriculum, five modules and 63 lessons, and mentorship continues after the weekend.

New York and Atlanta are the other East Coast trainings, and the East Coast page compares all three. Boston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa have their own pages. Want to try Breathwork in D.C. first? See Breathwork classes near Washington, D.C.
