Does this count toward your Wisconsin license renewal?

Wisconsin licensed massage therapists and bodywork therapists need 24 hours of continuing education before each two-year renewal, including 2 hours of ethics (Wis. Admin. Code MTBT 7.02). A new licensee is exempt at the first renewal.

Wisconsin's rule accepts continuing education approved by NCBTMB when the topic is within the scope of practice (MTBT 7.03), and this 24 CE hour course is NCBTMB approved (Provider #1003401).

It does not include the ethics hours, so plan to take those 2 somewhere else. The Massage Therapy and Bodywork Therapy Affiliated Credentialing Board has not reviewed this specific course. Confirm with your board.

Milwaukee Course Date

Milwaukee Weekend

June 2027

Exact dates still to be set. Flexible refund policy. Transfer or refund within 30 days of dates and location being settled.

It runs on the same weekend as the Breathwork certification in Milwaukee training, with the same two instructors. Milwaukee is the only Wisconsin weekend on the calendar. Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha are close enough to drive in each morning. From Madison or Green Bay, plan on two nights in Milwaukee.

What You Learn in 24 Hours

  • Breath science from a Registered Nurse. Respiratory anatomy, CO2 and the vagus nerve.
  • Ten breathing techniques for client use. The physiological sigh, breath holds and box breathing among them.
  • Ethical hands-on touch. Fully clothed, with consent, within your scope of practice.
  • A 6-phase session structure. Client screening, informed consent and supervised practice.

You receive a Certificate of Completion documenting 24 CE hours. Full attendance is required, with no partial credit. See the full schedule and course policies.

Who Teaches the Course

Ryan McBurney teaches the techniques and session structure, and Shelby Von Oepen, RN, teaches breath science and client safety. They co-founded Liquid Breathwork, a Breathwork practice based in Phoenix, Arizona.
