MEM is famous as the FedEx SuperHub, but it covers the flights you need. Delta's Atlanta nonstop is the big one.
Once you land at ATL, skip the rental car. MARTA has its own Airport station at the Domestic Terminal, and the Red and Gold lines carry you north through Five Points to Midtown.
Rather not drive to Milwaukee? Take the train. Memphis Central Station on South Main is the only Amtrak stop in town, and the City of New Orleans runs overnight from there to Chicago. From Union Station, the Hiawatha gets you to Milwaukee in about an hour and a half, with 7 round trips a day (6 on Sunday).
Curious about the Phoenix dates in the cards up top? American, American Eagle and Southwest all fly MEM to Phoenix nonstop.
Packing for March or June
Atlanta in March means highs in the mid 60s and nights in the mid 40s. That feels a lot like March back home, a degree or two warmer by day. It rains a fair bit, so bring a shell.
Late March is also when Atlanta's pine pollen peaks. For a weekend built around breathing, that's worth knowing.
Milwaukee in June runs mid 70s by day, high 50s at night. That's a good 10 degrees cooler by day than a Memphis June, so pack a sweater for after class. And neither trip collides with Memphis in May.
